Lagos State Government Announces Traffic Diversion for Pedestrian Bridge Construction

In an effort to enhance pedestrian safety along the Ikeja Along connecting route to the Ikeja Train Station for access to the Lagos Rail Mass Transit Red Line, the Lagos State Government has scheduled a traffic diversion at PWD inward "Ile Zik" axis of the Lagos Abeokuta Expressway. This diversion will occur on Saturday, March 23rd, and Sunday, March 24th, 2024, from 5 am to 8 am each day, totaling three hours.
The diversion plan aims to facilitate the installation of essential components for the ongoing construction of a pedestrian bridge at Ikeja Along.
During the diversion period, traffic from Abule Egba to Oshodi will be redirected to Agege Motor Road via "Ile Zik" to connect Akanni Doherty Road and Oba Akran Avenue, then proceed to Kodesoh to access the Airport Ramp and connect to Bolade/Oshodi.
Similarly, traffic heading to Dopemu/Abule Egba from Bolade/Oshodi will be diverted to Works Road via PWD inward Oba Akinjobi Way, allowing access to the newly constructed Ikeja Overpass, then onward to Agege Motor Road for onward travel to their destinations.
Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, reiterated that the diversion was intentionally scheduled for the weekend and during early hours to minimize disruptions. He assured that the State's Traffic Management Personnel would be deployed to ensure smooth commuting and mitigate inconveniences for road users.
