Bamidele Aturu, a human rights lawyer is dead. He died on Wednesday evening in a Lagos hospital.
Close friends of the deceased said he was planning to go to Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital for the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA Convention on Wednesday when he suddenly felt weak and decided to stop at the hospital for a check. He never made it out of the hospital alive.
As a lawyer Aturu was known for his human rights activism and the most recent was the case he instituted against the Lagos State government over the construction of a toll gate over the Lekki-Ikoyi bridge.
